My name is Shawn Marie Bergen and I’ve been a member of LCUMC for 32 years (the same age as our current Sanctuary).  I am the daughter of Sid and Terry Worthy: the roots of my passion for this kind of project.  The love of my life is Michael and we have 3 children: Sarah (4) and twins: William and Scott (2).

EDUCATION:

I am a graduate of Weekday Ministries :) and Clear Creek High School.  I earned a Bachelor in Music from Southwest Texas State University in 1998.

OCCUPATIONS:

I have been the music teacher at John F. Ward Elementary for 11 years.  I am on staff at LCUMC as the Wedding Coordinator and have served as the Children’s and Sanctuary Choir directors.  My other passions include ImageWorthy Photography & ImageWorthy Spaces, where my entrepreneurial spirit comes through.

RELEVANT ACTIVITIES:

I am a member of the Voyager’s Sunday School Class, the JuBellaté Ringers and the Sanctuary Choir.  I have served on numerous committees, including Trustees, Long Range Planning, Communications and Secretary for the Administrative Council (now the Admin. Board).  I’ve participated in Habitat for Humanity and Neighbor 2 Neighbor .  I am also a veteran of U.M.ARMY, where I served as a youth as a charter member of the Youth Advisory Board and as an adult, most recently as the Tool and Materials Coordinator.   I love do-it-yourself projects and my best Christmas gift last year was my own compound miter saw (I guess dad wanted his back).

MY GOALS AS A MEMBER OF THIS BUILDING COMMITTEE:

Establish a clear focus on who our church is trying to reach out to and how our new building will improve our ministry areas.  I want a building that reflects our family of caring, outreaching members.  I will strive to avoid the trendy and create timeless spaces that can grow and change as our mission of serving, sharing, worshipping and winning disciples to Christ expands.  I am also committed to being a good steward of our environment and believe we can be an example to our community, members and other churches when it comes to doing a little bit better at preserving our children’s future world.
