EXPLORER’S CLASS
Location: Room 128 FLC. (Across from 2-year olds.) Handicapped accessible.
Current Study: The Faith, Given Once, For All by Chuck Colson
Some Recent Studies: A study of the book of Acts, “The Jesus I Never Knew”, Martin Luther, The Early Church, Orthodox Church, Book of Job, Parables, Romans: Becoming New in Christ by Jack Kuhatschek, etc.
We usually rotate the “teaching” duties among four members, who lead class sessions in turn. We study whatever members suggest (within reason), and get into some pretty lively discussions.
Ministries: Support overseas students, local programs as needed.
Social: Lunch out together almost every month, on the last Tuesday of the month. It’s a movable feast. We go wherever the spirit moves us. Birthday parties as needed. Coffee in the classroom. (Free refills!)
Class makeup: About a dozen people, 50++ years, mostly retired from a variety of careers. Married and single. (We have a few empty chairs.)
Small enough that everyone gets a chance to have his or her say, big enough that you can sit in the corner and sulk if you want to. (So far, we haven’t found anybody who wants to sulk, and we haven‘t found any members who can keep quiet long enough to sit in the corner.) |
